Upcountry: Makawao, Pukalani, Kula

Upcountry Maui is an area that describes much of the land on the Haleakala side of Maui away from the shoreline and overlooking the central valley where Kahului and Wailuku are visible with views of Molokai in the far distance. The largest towns in Upcountry are Pukalani, Makawao, Kula and Haiku and includes many of Maui’s farms, wineries, ranches, and gardens, as well as wonderful little restaurants to enjoy. Because of its elevation, it is a much cooler in Upcountry than at the beach.
